Joss Whedon: A Celebration

May 03, 2014

In honor of Joss Whedon's work, DePaul Pop Culture Conference presented Joss Whedon: A Celebration in 2014.

We raised over $300 for the Equality Now--

Our Distinguished Contributions to Popular Culture Award Recipient was Cheryl Cain--

Our Effects Speaker was Mat Irvine.

Update: Feb 12, 2021. In light of the credible accusations about Whedon’s misogyny and cruel behavior to his cast (especially the women working on his shows and films), the DePaul Pop Culture Conference wants to reaffirm that we do not condone or support violence, whether physical or mental, against anyone, and we stand behind the women (and POC, and men, and others) who have suffered at Whedon’s hands. Our conference was a celebration of the work itself, not the man; but looking back we should have renamed our conference. We will not support the work of Whedon in the future.
